If you are a Keralite residing in Dubai and you haven’t heard of Salkara then you must be living under a rock!!!
Serving authentic Malabar cuisine and having several branches in Calicut, Kerala and in Ghusais and Al Nahda in the U.A.E.for several years, Salkara is a well-known name amongst those craving for wholesome homely food.
It was only recently that we came to know of its existence in Dubai Media City. So, we set out on Friday to give it a try. We were looking forward to feasting on some biriyani, but they had run out of the first batch and the next batch, wasn’t yet ready. So, I ordered the Kerala meals (as it is popularly known) with fish curry and my better half and kiddo had appam with Chicken in Coconut milk and Beef Vattichathu.
The Kerala thali had great taste; a special mention to the fish curry as it was bang on flavour. The chicken in coconut milk was creamy and tender and the beef was juicy and flavourful with a hint of spiciness.
The staff were cordial and knowledgeable. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating which during the cooler season would be a good choice.
