Under 500 is a restaurant born in the U.A.E. that aims to serve healthy food and each dish is under 500 calories. They serve all-day breakfast in addition to soups, salads, burgers, wraps and super bowls. They have vegan options too. You can even ‘build your own bowl’ if you’re not in the mood to have what’s on the menu. They also have desserts, for guiltless rejoicing. The best part of the menu is that nutritive information such as calories, and amount of proteins, carbs and fats is mentioned for each dish.
Under 500 has many branches in Dubai and I visited the Marina branch, located in Marina Scape Tower in Marina Walk. It is a small eatery with just a couple of tables and chairs but as the bulk of their orders is for delivery, it doesn’t matter.
I went with my family for dinner one weekday. It was quite in terms of dine-in customers but they did have many orders for delivery.
I started with a Kale and Lentil Soup while the boys had a Beet Blast. All their juices are fresh and organic and this one was over in a jiffy. The soup was warm and perfect for my sore throat. It is loaded with green lentils and the portion size is huge, thus making it shareable among 2 people atleast. I just felt it to be a little too salty for my liking.
For mains, I had a Wild Mushroom Risotto while my hubby opted for a Chicken Burrito Super Bowl sans jalapeno and my lil one had a Grilled Chicken Burger. The risotto was warm and creamy. The burrito bowl was good, and the burger was juicy and delicious.
Since the desserts here can be enjoyed without any guilt, we had Slimmed-Down Brownies and Peanut Butter Surprise. Both were decent though I felt the peanut butter surprise was extremely sweet.
Overall, the food is decent though a little pricey and the staff was very helpful and if they were a bit more knowledgeable, it would have been an added bonus.
