Baker and Spice at The S Hotel

Baker and Spice is synonymous with fresh and organic food. An award-winning food shop and restaurant that first opened its doors in 2008 in Dubai, it soon grew and now there is a branch at the newly opened The S Hotel in Al Barsha South. The food philosophy of Baker and SpiceLocal |Organic |Fresh |Homemade” is displayed at its entrance. It’s located near the lobby and upon entry, there is a central glass-display of the day’s main dishes and also the bakery items and jams and oils. Behind this is an open-plan kitchen. The seating is on either side of the central display. There is also a separate corner for coffee and tea preparations, and I found the home-grown brand Avantcha there.

My visit to this outlet happened to be on a Saturday morning to try some items from their breakfast menu. Hubster went with his favourite Eggs Benedict, kiddo chose his fav sausages while I decided to try something that I hadn’t tried ever before. Keep reading to know what it is… 😊

Runny Eggs Benedict (hubby’s preference) was served with Hollandaise Sauce and a salad and it was prepared exactly how we wanted. The hollandaise tasted egg-cellent too!! My lil one chose to have just Sausages – chicken and beef; good thing they served it with some greens. They sure pay attention to nutrition 😊 I had a bite of the sausages and ohh boy!! They were so delicious….one of the best I’ve had till date!! Not exaggerating, it was fresh and juicy and bang on flavour. Don’t forget to try their ketchup, not like the usual ones.

I tried The B&S Green Shakshouka. The shakshouka that I’ve always had was with the red gravy but this time, I chose to have the green sauce. Prepared with koussa (zucchini), and spinach, it is a healthy combination of eggs and greens and an unusual take on the tomato based shakshouka. It tasted decent but I would refer the tomato-based one due to its tangy yet spicy flavour.

Baker and Spice is also well-known for their pomegranate molasses, olive oils and jams which are available for dine-in and for purchase too.

For drinks, we had fresh Orange and Pomegranate Juices.

A special mention must be made about the drinking water. They serve drinking water in glass bottles that are filled with water after filtration at the premises, thereby doing their bit to reduce the use of plastics to create a better environment.

Breakfast at B&S could not be complete without having some of their freshly baked products. What we tried were Pain aux Raisin, Glazed Doughnut, Oats Cookies and Brownie. Fresh and not overly sweet, these were a perfect way to end our meal.
