Sanjeev Kapoor is an Indian celebrity chef, entrepreneur and television personality. Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor is a super fine dining restaurant that serves Chef Sanjeev Kapoor’s authentic Indian and signature dishes. This restaurant has been created under Chef Sanjeev Kapoor’s mentorship by Chef Praveen Singh and his team. It is built around classics presented with a modern touch. Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor is located on the ground floor in the 5-star The Canvas Hotel Dubai MGallery By Sofitel.
At the entrance to the restaurant are some of the books by Sanjeev Kapoor and also the awards won by them. The overall theme is elegant, moody and dark and this very nicely contrasts with the Indian food that is served here. There is a bright outdoor area that is covered and fitted with air coolers. The staff are knowledgeable and courteous. Watch my video of the setting here.
As soon we were seated and our preferences noted, we were served condiments in the form of Papad and various Chutneys – mint, mango, and more. Soon we were confronted with a Vegetarian Egg Yolk, a sarcastically named palate cleanser. It does look like one too but is actually made of mango. Then we had some Pani Puri Shots. Who can say no to pani puri…not me!!! Can you??
My expectations were already high when I set foot in this restaurant and I was very excited to see what else was in store for us. The Appetizer Platter was a masterpiece. Exquisite plating and true to a fine dining experience. On the platter were Methi flavored Chicken Tikka, Herb flavored Lamb Chop, Fish topped with Citrus Salsa and Curry Leaf crusted Prawns. Cooked to perfection and well-marinated meat was the highlight. I was amazed how perfectly the prawns too were cooked!!
Before the main course, we were served another round of palate cleanser, this time it was citrusy and icy cold. Main course was aplenty with Roghni Nalli, Butter Chicken, Dal Makhni, Naan, and Chicken Biriyani. The mutton was melting in the mouth and the gravy flavorful. My favorite was the dal makhni, creamy and decadent. I love a biriyani that is topped with crunchy fried onions and the portion size was huge too.
Finally, it was time for the showstopper and when it arrived, it was a showstopper indeed!!! A huge tray filled with some of the finest desserts they had to offer. Charcoal Rasmalai Snow, Bhapa Doi, with Nutella Powder, Raspberry Powder, Platinum Pebbles, Chocolate Chips and fresh strawberries.
The Charcoal Rasmalai was topped with a contrasting yellow-coloured Rabdi Sphere. Love the idea behind it and the taste as well. The highlight was Bhapa Doi, a Bengali dessert made of baked yoghurt. It was creamy and delicious.
Loved my experience here and waiting to go back again. Did I mention it is child-friendly and licensed too!! 😊
