Must try Kulchas and Clay Pot Biryanis at Kulcha King

Kulcha King is a well-known restaurant chain in U.A.E. for around 10 years now, serving north Indian cuisine and especially famous for their stuffed kulchas. A few days ago, I visited them at their Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) branch in Cluster O for dinner.

As we walked in through the massive entrance door with an Indian vibe, we were greeted by the front part of an actual truck placed inside the restaurant on the left side and a spacious vibrant seating area throughout the rest of the outlet.

There were only a couple of diners, probably due to the current situation and also because it was a weekday. Kulcha King is currently celebrating their 10th anniversary and as part of the celebrations, they are offering main course items at AED 25/– each.

Whilst we were waiting for our food to arrive, we sipped on Mango Lassi and Lime Soda. One can never go wrong with these two, right..

The food arrived after a short wait, which probably means it’s cooked only when the order is placed and that is a good thing!! And everything we ordered came together… another plus point!!!

We ordered Lamb Seekh Kebabs, Spinach & Cheese Kulcha and their latest addition to the menu, Clay Pot Biryani.

Spinach and Cheese Kulcha was my partner’s choice. It had a good amount of filling and was a good combination with the accompanying tamarind chutney and raita. You can choose any dip from the menu. The Lamb Seekh Kebabs were as should be and were served in style 😊

The highlight of the evening was Clay Pot Biryani; your choice of biryani, cooked and served in an earthen clay pot, with raita and papad. The shape of the pot is interesting and as soon as, the dum was opened, a wonderful aroma filled the air. It was garnished with chopped fresh coriander leaves and fried cashew nuts and raisins. We chose Chicken Tikka Biryani and the chicken tikka pieces were boneless and tender. The rice was fragrant and flavourful and the biryani on the whole was delicious and not overly spiced. The portion size is good for one or to share between two if you’re ordering other dishes. Highly recommend trying the clay pot biryani.
