Thai food is one of the most popular cuisines in the world and is liked for its distinct and strong flavours. It is healthy with a lot of green vegetables and herbs and is a blend of sweet, bitter, sour and salty flavours. Dubai is no stranger to this wonderful cuisine with many Thai restaurants around and Go Thai in Umm Hurair, Healthcare City is a new addition. Located on the Ground floor, next to Grill O, in Building 41, this is Go Thai’s second branch, the first being in Al Nahda, Dubai.

I visited the Umm Hurair branch for dinner last weekend with my family. It is a small outlet with limited seating but spread across an indoor and outdoor area. This casual dining restaurant focusses on serving authentic Thai flavours. We were welcomed with Prawn Crackers.

We started off with some cold teas and a bowl of piping hot Tom Yum Soup. The cold drinks were Butterfly Pea Tea, Lemonade, Ginger Tea and Lemongrass Tea. The change of color of the Butterfly Pea Tea upon adding lime juice was interesting to watch. Tom Yum Chicken Soup was spicy and amazingly flavourful. The chicken pieces were soft and I couldn’t stop slurping even after the starters were served.

Starters were Chicken Dim Sums and Crispy Wings. The dim sums were delish though its base kept sticking to the pot. In Thailand, Crispy Chicken Wings are served with sticky rice and that’s how they were served here too. That was new for me but after having the wings dipped in the spicy sauce, I think I know why they have it with plain sticky rice😊 But they were so crispy that you have to try it.

Then we moved onto my favourite – the Chicken Thai Green Curry. This was till date one of the best Thai green curries that I’ve tasted. It was aromatic, spicy, and delectable. Paired with steaming Jasmine rice, this was a match made in heaven. Highly recommended!!

Mango Sticky Rice is a classic dessert at all Thai restaurants, and here we were served the same but in a different way. The flavours were great, though the presentation could have been better and I would have loved to see more of the mangoes.

Overall, this place might be small but do not judge by its size. Their flavours are amazing and definitely worth a trip to Healthcare City.
