My first visit to Barbecue Nation was spontaneous and filled with lots of excitement, fun and very yummy food. This definitely calls for another visit….said my heart and my tummy too 😊. So this weekend, after a hectic morning at my son’s Karate tournament, we arrived at Barbecue Nation with nothing in hand, just an empty, growling tummy just in time for lunch. But we had to wait for almost an hour as it was completely packed. Nevertheless, our spirits weren’t let down. Finally, we were ushered to our table and once settled, the food came rolling down.
Live grill is the best part of this place….no need to get up from the table and different varieties of barbecues are placed on the grill right in front of you and get refilled without you saying a word. There was Chicken mint tikka, Fish kolhapuri, Lebanese prawns, Mutton mint masala seekh, Paneer saunfia tikka, Fried corn and Chicken wings kali mirch. The chicken mint tikka was soft and marinated well but the prawns this time didn’t taste that good. Last time’s was way better. Vegetarians can have a completely veg option too. There is also grilled pineapple which can eaten to cleanse the palate while being overwhelmed with all this non-veg.
Apart from the live grill on the table, there is a huge buffet counter having soup, varieties of salads, main course and desserts.
Among the several veg and non-veg options in main course, the ones I really liked were Malabar Crab Curry, Chicken Dum Biriyani and Veg Kofta Curry. The crab was cooked to perfection and the gravy was spot on in terms of flavour. The kofta was very soft, melting in the mouth and yummy. Sorry, I don’t have any photos as I was busy eating.
The dessert counter is always the busiest and its always my favourite place. Though there are a lot of items here, the ones not to be missed are the Vermicilli Kheer, Gulab Jamuns and the kulfis, especially the mango kulfi and the kesar kulfi.
I also ordered Spiced Tango and Bombay Collins from their signature drinks section, but I didn’t enjoy both.
Although not as exciting and as flavourful as my first experience here, I still enjoyed many items, which I feel are their best ones. Definitely worth a visit. A good place to spend quality time with family and friends bonding over delicious Indian food.
