Dubai may not be on the list of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, but this metropolitan city does have its own fair share of exquisite restaurants, from high-end to budget-friendly. Roam around the streets of Dubai and you’re bound to find food from any part of the world suited to your tastes and your budget. And yet there are more restaurants opening up here every other day…. Some don’t last long due to their poor quality and unmatching exorbitant rates. But some are really focussed on the quality of food they serve. I was invited to visit one such eatery the other day. Even though they had mentioned that they have an in-house butchery which supplies the daily meat required for the restaurant, I was in for a surprise. It was my first visit to a butchery that also had a full-fledged kitchen cooking up some delectable meaty dishes.
First let’s talk about the butchery section. They only have fresh items like chicken, lamb, veal and beef; no frozen items at all. These are used not only for their restaurant but also for anyone who wants to buy and take them home and cook for themselves. Both standard cuts of meat and marinated portions are available. For those who prefer organic meat, that is also available. And they also deliver to your homes. If you’re ever in doubt as to what type of meat would be suited for a particular dish, you can always speak to the butcher and he’ll be able to make suggestions and prepare accordingly. I was told that the meat from this butchery is supplied to other restaurants in the vicinity, and don’t you think that itself speaks a lot about how fresh the meat is.
This restaurant serves Lebanese food and we got to try some bestsellers from their menu. I was asked to choose but I left the decision to the owner and after trying the food I can confidently say that I made the right choice. For appetizers, we had Fattoush, Tabbouleh, Hummus and Mutabbal. These were all spot-on with the right consistency and flavour. If I had to choose a favourite, it would be the Mutabbal because it was so creamy, and I loved the eggplant taste with no bitterness at all.
Then we tried their Chicken Escalope and Mixed Grill Platters as well as two of their best-seller sandwiches, Chicken Tawouk and Roast Beef. Chicken Escalope is breaded chicken breast that was served with their signature fries and creamy cabbage salad. Although they were thin slices, it was tender and not dry.
The Mixed Grill platter contained pieces of Chicken Tawouk, Veal Fillet, Kafta, grilled onions, tomatoes and French Fries. These pieces of meat were so soft and juicy and bang on flavour that I just can’t get over it. I’m still drooling…. Using fresh meat does make a whole lot of difference to cooked food and combine it with the best ingredients and you have an appetizing meal right in front of you.
Among the sandwiches, I absolutely loved the Chicken Tawouk sandwich. It was soft, juicy and the pickles weren’t too sour or too salty, unlike other places. The best part about the Roast Beef Sandwich is the succulent beef slices and the perfectly crusty on the outside but soft on the inside bread.
I love Lebanese food and I’ve tried it from many places and if it isn’t prepared properly then it’s a complete turn-off for me. But this restaurant is now at the top on my go-to places for authentic Lebanese food and also for fresh butchered meat. It’s conveniently located in Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) and another good thing is that they deliver items from both their kitchen and their butchery to your address. Also love the cute boxes in which the sandwiches are packed. Looks like you have found your next delivery for your office or home!!! And if you’re looking for a catering service for any function, these are your guys!!
When the people involved in running this restaurant are so focused and dedicated on using only the premium products and also on maintaining reasonable rates, I cannot but be amazed by the quality of food and service they put out. There may be many restaurants in JLT, but this one’s definitely worth trying out.
