Levantine cuisine is always close to my heart. Hot grills with hummus and freshly made Arabic bread are some of my favourites. Al Fakhar & Al Tanour ticks all the right boxes. It is a quaint restaurant located in the heart of Abu Shagara, Sharjah with outdoor and indoor seating areas. My visit was on a Saturday afternoon and that could be the reason that there weren’t many dine-in customers, but they did have many delivery orders and take-aways.
We started off with warm Freika soup. Freika is made from green durum wheat that is roasted, threshed and then sun-dried. It is high in vitamins, minerals, fibre and protein. It was my first time trying out freika and it was pretty good.
Soon arrived the freshly made breads with hummus, garlic paste and some salad. The bread is to die for!!! I could just have that all day 😊
For grills, we ordered a Mix Grill Platter that had chicken, meat and prawns. Loved the chicken though the prawns were a tad bit over-grilled. The meat was juicy but did have a gamey-taste to it which I’m not fond of. But tasted much better when eaten together with the garlic paste. We also had a fresh Orange Juice and some of their freshly made Laban Airan.
There was a live Shawarma corner, and I couldn’t resist it, so I got one and hubby got a Liver Sandwich. Liver was a winner, but shawarma could do better.
In terms of desserts, they had only ice-cream…. Didn’t expect that!!! ☹
Overall, a nice place to be or even order from, if your nearby. Nothing fancy just some good food 😊
