How often is that you come across a non-vegetarian restaurant where their vegetarian thali outshines the non-veg. one!!! Not many, I’m sure. Dhaba Lane situated in Karama is one such outlet. My partner and I visited this place on a weekday afternoon only to try their newly launched thali. The restaurant as the name suggests has a ‘dhaba’ (roadside food stall) feel to it with a massive truck counter and milestones as seen on Indian highways, within this place.
Greeted and seated better-half ordered the non-veg. thali whilst I had the veg. one. As we were waiting for the thali platter, much to my surprise, what made its way to our table was a smokey plate with two mini drinks. These were Aam Ras Pyala as Amuse Bouche. This really set the level for what was to follow.
The thali was served in a huge steel plate with the curries in mini katories (containers) place within. It looked really pretty and delectable.

The cold starter for both was Purani Dilli ki Papdi Chaat. Loved it. The appetizers were Tandoori Phool and Desi Chicken Tikka for the veg. and non-veg. thalis respectively.
Main course – Taka Tak Paneer/Classic Chicken Tikka Masala
Sarson da Saag/Mutton Rogini
Dal Makhini
Dum Biriyani Rice
Butter Naan, accompanied with Papad, Raita and Salad.
I’m not too fond of sarson ka saag but this wasn’t too bad and I absolutely relished the dal and the paneer dishes. The only drawback was the broccoli tandoori phool which was kind of burnt. The non-veg. thali was a winner too.
We ended the meal with gulab jamun and just as hoped, it was juicy and yummy.
One thing to keep in mind while having thali there is that you must try their Kesar Lassi. Served in earthen cups, they’ll just blow your mind away. Highly recommended!!!
A special mention to Chef Jitendra and Neeraj for their wonderful hospitality and service 😊
