Situated amidst the by-lanes of the JVC community, Socialicious is a café cum restaurant with a pretty outdoor seating area and a cozy indoor one. I had been following this restaurant on Instagram for some time now for the way their tempting food pictures and also because it was highly recommended on Zomato. So, when I was invited to try their new menu, I was ecstatic.
I visited with my better half and kiddo on a weekend for lunch. It was a set menu and we were first served an electric blue drink, Isle of Curacao. It looked spectacular but nothing beyond that. Since there were two of us together, we chose different dishes from the options thus enabling us to get a better understanding of their new menu. So, while I chose Crispy Tori Karaage, hubby opted for the Creamy Avocado Nachos. The chicken karaage was crispy and tender and the nachos with avocado was tasty too. Also tried the Burnt Garlic Soup with Buckwheat Noodles and Raw Mango and Papaya Salad with crushed peanuts. Loved the soft texture of the buckwheat noodles. I didn’t enjoy the salad much as I’m not fond of raw mango due to its sour taste, but my dining partners enjoyed it.
Mains were Panko Crusted Fish Bao, Salmon Bulgogi and Thai Red Veg. Curry. Though the branded baos looked appetizing, the crusted fish could have been seasoned a bit more. The salmon was mouth-watering and cooked to perfection. The Thai Red curry was simply out of this world. The flavours were delectable.
Dessert was Tempura Brownie, a chocolate brownie battered and fried, served with Vanilla ice-cream. the brownie was yum, but the tempura was too chewy.
The meal ended on a wonderful note with some Blue Pea Tea that changes its colour to pink when lemon juice is added to it.
Though there were many hits, some misses and a few hiccups in service, the food quality and flavour was not compromised and that’s the reason I’m giving Socialicious a 4*(star). P.S.: I heard they allow pets in the outdoor dining area. Next time, I’m visiting with my lil doggie 😊
