Oud Metha is a food lovers’ paradise and if you’ve been there, then you know how you’ll be spoilt for choice. And if you haven’t been there, then you’re definitely missing out!!! Oud Metha’s latest offering is a restaurant ‘Back to Grills‘ that in spite of having opened their doors only less than a year ago, was nominated by Masala Food Awards in the Themed Restaurant category.
The tagline of this new outlet is ‘Grills from Around the World’ and they stick to it by focusing on grilled dishes inspired from around the world. The restaurant seems small and compact, but the interior exudes warmth and sophistication. The presentation is intricate, Insta-worthy and something that one would expect only from 5* hotels. Kudos to Chef Anish and his working partner, Annu, for coming up with this brilliant concept and the excellent execution in such a short span.
I visited this place for lunch on a weekday with my better half 😉 and the first thing I ordered was a Choco Peanut Butter Milkshake. Who doesn’t love a good chocolate milkshake!!! And I wasn’t disappointed…. rich, chocolatey, peanut buttery…it was sinful yet delightful!!! Hubby had a Mango Passion Fruit Smoothie which was good but not as good as what I had 😉 I had to exercise a lot of self-control to not finish it in one go 😊
While we placed the orders and waited for our food to arrive, we were served complimentary Chinese Fried Noodles. A perfect example for ‘do not judge a book by its covers’. Simple looks but killer taste.
For starters, we ordered Garlic Rosemary Prawn Olivettes. Sound fancy eh…just the beginning!! The prawns marinated in garlic-rosemary mustard sauce and skewered with olives was a delectable combination. We were literally wiping the plates clean!!
The mains were Harissa Lamb Shanks and a Half Spit Roast Chicken. The presentation was simply wow!! The lamb shanks were juicy and succulent and just melting in the mouth. Though they were spicy (as mentioned in the menu), it made a yummy combination with the accompanying Caribbean Rice which is prepared using coconut milk, thus balancing out the spiciness.
My favourite was the Spit Roast Chicken where the chicken is slow-cooked and is served with potato wedges, Indian Bread, Green Chutney and Raita.
The best part of dining here is that everything is prepared only when the order is placed. Everything is fresh and prepared as per the order. So be prepared to wait a lil while for the food to arrive but with the assurance that it’s going to be yum.
We were soo full but there’s always room for dessert, rite 😉 I opted for the Choco Lava Pudding, warm chocolate lava oozing from the chocolate crust served along side Vanilla Ice-cream. Just watch this video and you’ll know how enticing it was. Perfectly balanced in terms of sweetness 😊
