Chicken Cottage is the 1st and largest halal chicken chain in the UK. They first opened their doors in the 1990’s in London where its proprietors felt the need for a restaurant that serves fresh and at the same time, halal food unlike other fast-food outlets at that time. Dubai’s first branch was established in Dec. 2018 at The Mall, directly opposite Jumeirah Beach Hotel. Read all about that experience here.
Now very recently, in October 2020, they opened a second branch at Bayswater Tower, Marasi Drive in Business Bay.
Chicken Cottage serves both grilled and fried chicken and use only fresh, Grade A, hormone-free and antibiotic-free chicken throughout their menu.
The outlet in Marasi Drive is not as big and does not have that many seating options as the one in Jumeirah but nevertheless, dine-ins are possible with limited indoor and outdoor options. The outdoor tables are by the canal and the restaurant is child friendly. Free parking is a hassle as I couldn’t find any in the area. So, it’s best to opt for delivery.
The menu is extensive with burgers, combo meals, wings, grilled chicken, wraps, nuggets, strips, salads, sides, desserts, and kids’ meals. My order was a Cottage Restart Meal and a quarter Grilled Chicken.
The Cottage Restart Meal consisted of one crispy chicken fillet burger, one piece of fried chicken, two pieces of crispy chicken tenders, a side (we chose mash and gravy), a large chocolate cookie and a beverage. The Grilled Chicken comes in various options and we chose the breast and wing option with peri-peri hot sauce.
Everything here is made fresh to order and the grill chicken is marinated for a minimum of 24hrs before grilling. The flavours were amazing especially the peri-peri grilled chicken and the freshness could be felt in the meat. The fried chicken leg, the tenders and the chicken fillet in the burger were crispy and delicious. The cookie was chocolatey and yum.
Overall, it’s a great place to order from when you’re looking for fast food and it’s healthy!!!
